What is TSR?

TSR (Trauma-Stress Relief) – is a new and innovative approach in the case definition and treatment of both physical and mental symptoms that have been unsuccessfully diagnosed and treated using traditional medical methods.

This therapy is the result of a fusion between western and eastern medical philosophies and state-of-the-art data analytics and artificial intelligence.

Based on years of clinical expertise and case analysis, a strong correlation has been found between trauma-stress event/situations and a patient’s chief complaint. This is not always evident. Some patients have a vivid memory of, and association to the trauma-stress event, however most of the time they have simply forgotten, suppressed or are in denial of these events. Therefore, often trauma-stress can be easily dismissed as a cause for the symptoms that are present, this is particularly seen with musculoskeletal complaints and fibromyalgia. In order words, the common assumption is “physical pain should equal physical explanation”.

To understand the significance of acknowledging trauma-stress as a developing agent for symptoms we must first understand the natural way the body is designed to handle these situations. This process involves various biological systems working together, balanced and in harmony. TSR focuses primarily on the balance between the autonomic nervous and the endocrine system. These two systems are responsible for the involuntary “fight or flight” response. This is a vital part of life, it is the fast action of taking your hand away from a hot stove, jumping out of the way of an oncoming vehicle. Stress activates your autonomic nervous system and triggers your endocrine system to release adrenal hormones (adrenaline, noradrenaline, cortisol), increasing blood flow, fast breathing, rapid heartbeats and dilated pupils preparing the body for an immediate action. This occurs incredibly fast and its extremely useful in such situations. The follow up from a “fight or flight” response is a “rest and repair” stage. This should occur naturally and involuntarily, however this is not always the case.

Stress can take many forms and people perceive stress and stressor differently. In the old days “fight or flight” was used when running away from a predator or escaping a dangerous situation, however in modern life this can be financial worries, family/marital problems, work environment, academic pressure, physical and/or mental abuse etc. Prolonged exposure can lead to the development of chronic stress and the body locking into an almost permanent state of “fight or flight”.

The effects and links of chronic stress to the body are well studied and documented. These can lead to a long list of identified symptoms amongst which fatigue, poor concentration, brain fog, sleep disturbance and rapid/disorganised thoughts are consistently ranked high amongst all patients. These symptoms are usually relentless, ongoing and often over time medication becomes less effective in managing their severity.

Therefore, TSR therapy focuses on restoring the balance between the sympathetic nervous system (responsible for fight of flight response) and the parasympathetic nervous system (responsible for rest and repair). the therapy process is divided into a clinical assessment, EDA probe test, acupuncture (Ramirez key) and record of treatment response.

TSR software will be measuring the potential impact of trauma-stress event exposure through a multilevel mind assessment using a series of short questionnaires. This is followed by taking a non-invasive electrodermal reading using a specially designed probe to test a micro current through 24 specific acupuncture points along the 12 acupuncture meridians (according to Dr. Kobei Akabane’s oriental medicine). These two stages are consolidated through a specialised mathematical algorithm to outline the level of influence trauma-stress is having on the patient.

The Ramirez key will then be applied, this is a unique combination of acupuncture points which triggers the parasympathetic nervous system into initiating a rest and repair response. The Ramirez key has shown a rapid effect in relieving many chief complaints without the need for local therapy (e.g. treating the back directly in cases of back pain).

The patient’s treatment response is noted and recorded as part of their clinical history and revisited as on follow up sessions. All the results are presented with clear and easy to follow imagery and explained in detail by the therapists. This allows the patient to gain a much better understanding of their condition and what factor can influence the progression of recovery, positive influences but also negative influences that need attention.

TRS therapy was developed to be a complete treatment focused on delivering long lasting relief to our patients. Dr Ramirez recognised that the balance between the body and mind needs to be restored before real progress can be achieved. What happens next?

After your first treatment, your practioner will explain how many more sessions you are advised to do. You can book your follow up visit on the day or later on. During this visit (and any other follow up visit), you will also be asked to fill your self-assessent, answer the practioner’s questions and go through your clinical evidence check one more time. This is to track your progess and ensure your initial treatment still aplies.
